While trying to fill my home with an Internet of Things, I decided that being able to watch my things and dog while away would be nice.
I used the built in Node.JS along with FFMPEG and a $20 webcam (I used the Logitech C270) to be able to stream a live view of my home. This was all capable due to a project I found on github: Edi-Cam.
The provided Node page listens for the video stream being sent by the FFMPEG (which can also be sent to other servers).
