With energy cost on the rise and antique power grids, it is time to take some control and get serious about reducing the waste of power. Thus, there is need for domestic power consumption to be checked and greatly reduced by using a low cost device. Most domestic waste of power happens so silently that most people don’t realize it. Examples include devices and appliances that are plugged to mains supply and are turned on but not necessarily being used. Some of these devices and appliances really are not in active use and we tend to leave them plugged in all day but they silently suck power though their status indicators, digital displays, or built-in clock. This project seeks to implement a means to network appliances operable within the house using a one button device and can also be controlled using a mobile phone via the internet from anywhere in the world.
