Day 1:
To start the house off you want to get some 2 by 4 and a circular saw to cut them down to size. After cutting them down to size in the frame I have built they are cute down to a size of 55 inches by 43 inches. You then want to put the gram together by using screws.
Day 2:
Next you want to cut the base floor of the house where everything will sit on top of this. By using a track saw and screws and an electric screw you can measure the base piece of marine plywood to size and then cut it out using a track saw. After cutting it out to size you then can screw the base platform onto the base frame using deck screws and a electric drill.
Day 3:
Once you have finished the base and put it together we will now start to finish the frames.
day 4:
We used the same tools for the base frame to cut out the frames of the house and if some of the beams are too short we can use some wood to put in-between the two beams.
Day 5
We will then build the back frame wall and as you can see I added a picture of how I put a piece of wood in between the two frames.
day 6:
We then built the front frame and also know as the front door of the house we had to make sure all the beams were in a good place to hold up the door.
day 7:
had to postpone the project until I can be able to recover it from school.
the reason for this is due to the coronavirus outbreak that has occurred in our country.
I will resume the project as soon as possible and attempt to finish it.
learning experience:
Overall the learning experience was very fun I got to use a whole bunch of different types of tools such as saws, electric drills, or hammers that are used to pry out nails that we’re stuck in wooden boards. The experience gave a me a sense of knowledge as to how to use power tools effectively and safely.
Future Plans:
Since I was unable to finish the dog house I plan on finishing it once I am able to acquire it from campus.
The steps after getting it will be cutting out the walls that will then be placed on the frames I have already made.
The next step will be placing all the walls on the base and then screwing them into place on the base.
After doing this I will then begin to make the inside of the dogs house more at home for Rex. I will first get some soft rug and place it on the base and then nail it down so that he isn't sleeping on the wood floor.
Next I will begin building the roof of the dogs house how I do this is I plane to make the roof a triangle. By building three to for triangle frames that will then be placed together with three beams making it very structurally sound and very strong against harsh weather.
Afterwards I will cut out the plywood roof and put it onto its frame. I will then begin to make sure the roof has no leaks using cock to cover up any cracks that are in the ceiling of the dog house. Next I will begin to put the roofing on the make sure water flows down the roof rather than going into the house itself. Doing this will make it very water proof. I will then place the roof part of the dogs house onto the rest of the dogs house and prepare to do exterior work on the dog house.
First I will place siding onto the dogs house and cock glue any areas where there are cracks to make it water proof and ensure there will be no leaks inside or out. I will then cock glue any other areas I feel are necessary.
Lastly I had intended on using a laser printer to make a sign that would be place on top of the door but I think I will be able to carve something out by hand that would say either Rex or Rex's on it so people would know who's house this is.
So that it was I intend on doing in the future.
estimated time line I see for this project is between 2-3 weeks at most.
