The transition from doing Makers Lab at school and having access to all the tools available to spending every moment at home and trying to adjust and do makers lab at home has been pretty tough. I ended up having to discard my initial idea for a project because it was simply not possible for me to work on it with the insufficient resources I have at home. So previously Ive been spending all of my time trying to find a good idea for my final project and everything just wasn’t working. But now, I’ve been able to work with Mr. Bell and Mr. Brown and we came to the conclusion of making my own guitar from a kit.
I’m still waiting for my package to arrive. I’ve seen the instruction and process of how to build the guitar so now I’m just waiting on my supplies still.
The kit that I have to build my guitar doesn’t come with instructions so I’ve been looking at multiple videos trying to figure out how to build my guitar.
Ill be using some tools that we’ve used in class like sand paper and clamps but I’ll also be using titebond glue for my guitar. I just have to get the supplies.
Im beginning the building process
Im using sandpaper to sand down the bottom side of the neck so it can fit nicely into the guitar
Going to use Titebond Wood glue to glue in the neck to the main guitar body
Using clamps to let glue dry
After I let the neck of the guitar dry, I inserted the truss rod into the guitar and glued down the fret board, putting down a strip of tape over the truss rod to make sure the glue doesnt seep into the truss rod
I have now attached the next and waited for it to dry, enforcing it with clamps
After I let the neck dry, I inserted the frets into the fret board with Titebond glue and hammered them into place
After I inserted the frets into the fret board, I measured the placement of the holes for the bridge by using a ruler and measuring the necks Lengths and going 25.5 inches from the top down
I didn’t know that I’d be the one that would have to make the holes in the guitar so that was something new for me that I had to research the steps and how to do it
After I found the placement, I drilled in the holes
Then I inserted the strings into the bridge
After I attached the bridge, i then put the tuners into the holes
I also had to drill in holes for the tuners as well. Another new experience that I didn’t know I’d be doing. I’m just glad it came out correctly
I then put in the piece for the strings to rest on
Lastly, I put the strings into the guitar and tuned it. I also had to make the little holes to screw in the tuners. I had to make sure I was precise and didn’t make the hole too big or too deep
