Our group project here is designed to be a sensor Theremin. The materials we used here are the Adafruit Circuit Playground Express for the code to make the sensors work correctly to sense the nearby object, a battery pack to power the circuit, an ultrasonic sensor connected to a breadboard, and resistors. The design of the object was created with plastic box with a hole cut at the top for the ultrasonic sensor to be exposed and sense things. With the box being wrapped in cardboard. When turned on you will be able to wave your hand at the top of the box causing the sensors to make sounds depending on the distance of your hand.
The reason for using/creating this object was for the idea of modernizing and miniaturizing the Theremin. The Theremin is an older instrument being developed back in the 1920s and with it not being up-to-date, it would be best to modernize the Theremin to today's standards even improving it with new technology. The original Theremin instrument is also a very large instrument, having to be used on a stand most of the time. Since this was the case, we decided that it would be best to make it a lot smaller, making it easier to move around and not be such a hassle. Ours basically being a pocket sized Theremin.
