Building and maintaining an attractive resume and/or portfolio is one of the most important things to get you into your dream school or dream job.
Hackster is an online community for open-source projects based on electronics. People from around the world have used it for
- Getting inspired by ideas
- Sharing their own projects and tutorials
One of the key capabilities I'd like to enable young talents to leverage, is using Hackster as a tool for collaboration and presentation.
For example, one of my favorite "super user" from Hackster is Raunak Singh, he is a high schooler from US.
Through participating in Hackster developer activities, and presenting his own work online, he demonstrates his superb savviness in knowledge as well as modern soft skills.
His projects incorporate hardware, and software, often social mission-driven. I'm constantly inspired by his creativity and confidence.
I fully believe every young talent is a star of their own, and they can use these same toolsets and techniques to showcase how they shine.
Building up a project portfolio takes time, but most importantly, is starting to create the documentation habit.
Start now, and start small.
So first steps:
1) Create your own profile on Hackster and enrich it with your current skillsets
2) Create your own first Hackster project, anything you have built, or you are about to build, or something you want to build.
3) Find your "community" on Hackster to start participating in a borderless global talent pool. The "community" could be:
- your school, for example: Maju Scholarship
- a specific topic you like, for example: Companion bots, animals, music
- a specific hardware/brand you like, for example: Arduino, DFRobot
4) Find your friends, and follow them - You might just make some international friends who you can visit one day on the other side of the earth. Hackster has 2M users from around the world! Be the one that represent your country as top talent!
5) Find some superstars to follow, here are some of my "idols" and favourite humans:
- Kitty Yeung - fashion designer
- Sashrika Das
- Nick Lopez
- Alex Glow
