Story

This started as a piece to a larger project but then we realized the fun of just messing with lighters and how you can control them in different ways. Using just two leads running off the positive and negative terminals of the button on the lighter and a chop saw if you want to keep using the case, you can manipulate how it turns on and off. Then by connecting it to an Arduino you can do things such as insert a blink function which makes the lighter turn on at specific intervals without having to press a single button.

Here you can see where we cut a hole in the side of the case to be able to accommodate the extra leads

Not all lighters a designed in the same configuration but they are all very simple to hack. There will most likely be a small screw in the bottom that will easily allow you to remove the internals and give you easy access to where you will attach your positive and negative leads.
