The increasing automation of airports and train stations services aren’t limited to automated baggage sorting and automatic ticket machines. One of the more recent concepts include the use of guide robot, they are designed to help lost and confused travelers in airports or train stations. They are tasked to answer the queries of the traveler and can physically accompany them to their destination if required. Mobile robots are often used in a controlled environment such as warehouses. There are strong needs to develop autonomous sensing and navigation capabilities to allow the mobile robots be used safely and reliably outside of the specific conditions. In a real world environment such as airports and train stations, mobile robots must be able to navigate through an ever changing environment. Permanently fixed obstacles can be mapped in advance, but temporary and dynamic obstacles such as people and other vehicles remain unpredictable. Therefore, a more advanced system must be used to avoid collisions and allow for the robot to navigate efficiently. The aim of this project is to create an algorithms to control a mobile robot in dynamic environment. These algorithms can be use in different type of scenario such as in airport or delivery robot.
