Temperature controller system with TC621 and TC4469 + thermistor NTCLE213
The following circuit simulation is inspired by the application note AN773 from Microchip( Application Circuits of the TC620/TC621 Solid-State Temperature Sensors (microchip.com)) and attempts to describe a temperature controller, which heats if the temperature is under a threshold, and cools by ventilation when the temperature is above a high threshold. The most problematic points here were that: 1) there is no spice model for the TC621 and 2) the spice model of the TC4469 is much too detailed for what we intend to do here. So both had to be (re)written from scratch. No special problem though : the TC621 is decomposed in its parts and the second is a simple logical circuit which can be reproduced withe the logical elements of LTspice.
From the reading of the application note, there is now one difference and that is that when the switch S3 is open, the thermo-control is shut off, and once closed, the circuit heats up and can activate the cooling.
The cooling action of a fan is here represented by a vakue of thermal resistanceR6 dpending upon a current passing in L1 or not. The temperature of object to heat or cool is tsyst and is brought back to an accurate NTCLE213 100 Kohms from Vishay.The following graph of the temperature waveforms show that the closed loop of the thermal-electronic circuit is working perfectly: the temperature of the system swings between the two imposed limits and the diode D1 to D3 light up accordingly ( D1 system ON, D2 cooling fan on when Tsyst above high limit, D3 when Tsyst is bewteen the two limits). One advantage of this simulation is that teh ambient temperature can be changed at will (here some sinusoidal variation between 0 and 50°C).
