I began my process by splitting a large pallet of MDF into seven pieces. I calculated and measured all of the dimensions myself to create the perfect enclosure for my speakers.
I then measured the dimensions of the subwoofer, tweeter, bass-port, and binding ports to then draw the mounting holes directly on to the MDF.
Next I designed the external pattern (the Beatles lyrics printed on the MDF) on microsoft word. I then transferred the file into the computer that connects with the laser printer, and had the lyrics cut into the MDF via the laser cutter. This method gives my speakers a natural look.
It took about 50 minutes to print on side of my enclosure. But the final product looked amazing!
Once all the sides were cut and the design was printed, I proceeded to cut the mounting holes out with a jigsaw. Though it took a lot of time, the cutouts were clean and held each of the pieces perfectly.
I then glued the enclosure together (all pieces except the top and back panels), and left it to dry overnight.
The next step of the process was the mounting and wiring of the binding posts, speakers, and crossover. I soldered the wires to their ports, an got the speakers up and running.
The speakers work amazingly well and look fantastic, I'm so happy with my final product!
