Being from Chicago, I have biked places since I was very young. In the city, bikers are fairly well respected on the road, and new lanes are built to accommodate them every year. However, there are always incidents when cars are out of line, or when you need to pay extra attention to your surroundings.
That's why I have been working on the bike rear view mirror. Similar to a rear-view car camera, this "mirror" is fashioned to replay the surroundings behind you on a mounted camera on your handlebars. A camera will be mounted to the back of the rider's helmet, and an LCD screen will be attached to the handlebars. The camera will stream live footage to the screen, via Arduino. Thus, when the user wants to see more to the left or right, they simply have to move their head accordingly.
