This PCB project was specifically crafted for an introductory high school femme and them programming workshop, where every participant had the exciting opportunity to code their very own vibrant RGB flower and take it home as a keepsake.
As I was listening to Miley Cyrus's 'I Can Buy Myself Flowers' on repeat, it suddenly dawned on me - why not build our very own flowers? The timing couldn't have been more perfect, with the workshop scheduled during the week of Valentine's Day. I had a fun idea: let each young maker participating in the workshop program their personalized flower as a token of self-love and empowerment. It was exciting to spread positivity with some pretty PCBs, code and colorful LEDs.
The PCB itself has no microcontroller on it, but has 6 WS2812B-2020 LEDs (Neopixels). It requires soldering wires to the pads on the back of the PCBs and the wires can then be connected to any microcontroller development board. It works well with Adafruit's Neopixel library for Arduino and micropython based boards.
