We held our bi-monthly IoT build night with Hexlab Makerspace, myDevices Cayenne, and Hackster.io. We created a simple room monitoring solution using the Raspberry Pi to monitor various aspects of the home: temperature, luminosity, pressure, motion. And of course some LED's and buzzers.
Featured ProjectRoom Monitoring in the Home. Participants will be using the Raspberry Pi to monitor various data points within a room.
- Custom dashboards with drag-and-drop widgets
- Get started visualizing data immediately with no coding necessary
- Monitor the temperature, pressure, ambient light, and motion in any room
- Store sensor data and see trends over time
- Set alerts and receive text messages → When temperature is too high, text me!
- Trigger events → If motion is detected, turn on the buzzer!
- Easy project access from iOS or Android devices
- Full access to Cayenne Community - a supportive and vibrant IoT + tech forum
- Cayenne is completely FREE to use
- Raspberry Pi
- SD Card w/ Raspbian Jessie
- Breadboard & wires
- BMP180 temperature & pressure sensor
- TSL2561 luminosity sensor
- Digital Motion Sensor
- Buzzer
- LED’s & resistors
***Benny will be bringing several kits that attendees can use. If you have your own Raspberry Pi or sensors, feel free to bring them. Pizza and drinks too!
