Aging in Place

My mother lives on her own and enjoys the independence of doing so. She is currently 78, recently widowed and she moved into single floor plan condominium. Talking with my friends around my age this is a common situation.

I am a smart home enthusiast and started thinking about in addition to the connivence smart things, would there be a way to leverage their "connected-ness" to unobtrusively ensure my mom's safety and well being.

In this prototype I had access to smart home devices from iDevices which included the following:
