Amazon Alexa smart home voice commands are great. If you have some smart home switches or lights, no doubt you use them everyday.

How about things that can't simply be turned off with a switch like a TV or radio.

Chances are these appliances have some type of remote control, most likely IR.

This project shows how to build a trainable universal remote that can send an on/off comand as well as send an up or down percentage command that can be linked to a volume or channel changing function.
