Recently, I built a fish smoker with my dad out of an old stove and a steel tank.
To smoke salmon, we usually do it in 3 phases :
1. An hour at 30°C, that's when the fish gets hold of the smoky flavor
2. An hour at 60°C, that starts cooking the fish
3. Half an hour at 80-100°C, that gets the fat just right and it gives it a nice tint
But we found out that regulating precisely the temperature was way more difficult than we imagined. We need to control the different states of burning, so we have to adjust the air intake every other minute.
This process is long and boring.
So I thought I could build an esp8266 based circuit that would keep my dad informed right on his phone of the temperature, time and phase of the Smart Fish Smoker.
