Let's do things in the modern era, I mean come on. We have a 3D printer, IT'S A FREAKING 3D PRINTER. Why is it tethered by a USB cord. I will take my RoStock Max V3, add a Raspberry Pi, and throw in a dash of the Hologram Nova to make this thing a connected rock star.
By installing OctoPrint on the Raspberry pi, the printer instantly becomes a web based entity, but it is limited to internal networks and static IP addresses. I look to expand this beyond just internal cordless.
Adding the Hologram Nova I can give it cellular connectivity and with the Python SDK I can write a custom plugin for OctoPrint that allows configuration and setup of the Hologram, and the ability to server the OctoPrint web service up to be accesses anywhere remotely from ANY computer phone or tablet.
Given enough time I will even write a companion app for it to manage the printer remotely rather than using the web interface.
