Ever put up a plain old wood birdhouse up high, then had no idea if anyone moved in?Don’t want to climb up and bother them? Turn your birdhouse into a smart birdhouse with a thermal sensor array, gas sensor and Matter to let you check on your newest tenants
What are you going to build to solve this problem? How is it different from existing solutions? Why is it useful?I am going to build a sensor system into an existing birdhouse to let me check on the OTs (Original Tweeters) inside. It will help monitor what bird houses are used, how long they have been inside and hopefully if there are chicks joining the family. Then when the season is done you know when it’s vacant and safe to clean up.
How does your solution work? What are the main features? Please specify how you will use the nRF7002 DK in your solution. The nRF7002DK will be the brain of the sensor. Added to that will be a thermal sensor array (AMG8833 I believe) and a ZMOD4450 gas sensor. This will connect over Matter on Thread. Readings will be relayed back to a Raspberry Pi as the Border router. From there, readings will be logged, published as a web page and possibly send alerts to Alexa or my iPhone. Finally, I hope to use a Seeed XIAO nRF52840 running Matter of Thread to use as a status light so we can tell at a glance if an occupant is home. This same hardware patterns will be easy to reuse later as an occupancy/air quality sensors and to deploy notification lights
