We have made a few modifications to our video since we first outlined our ideas for this project. While reflecting on our initial project proposal, we decided that it would be inefficient and problematic to study and record other people in various public settings. We decided that there could be potential privacy issues that could interfere with our project if we filmed strangers, and we thought that visiting different public places would be time consuming; therefore, we will be exploring media sites such as YouTube and Archive.org to assist in gathering video footage for our project. Through extensive research on websites such as YouTube and Archive.org, we have discovered multiple clips to include in our video. Additionally, we will be incorporating Adobe Cloud into our project to aid in the editing process of the video footage. We want to take advantage of the one-month free trial provided by Adobe so that we can edit our footage without paying a monthly fee. Multiple editing applications such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and AfterEffects appeal to our project and are offered with a free trial. We will download the free trial of these applications instead of using the iMovie application like we previously stated in our project proposal.
Although we have made some technical changes to our project, we hope to maintain the same theoretical approach. We are still seeking to evoke the negative effects technology can have on relationships and socialization. By removing a technological device from a clip or photograph, we wish to portray the reliance people have on technology from the past and present. We hope that this video will show the astounding amount of time that people are engrossed with their technology, to the point that they are ignoring their surroundings. We are in the gathering phase of this project and we still need to explore YouTube and Archive.org further to assemble enough photographs and video clips to create a lengthy video. Additionally, we do not want to waste our free month trial for our editing applications; therefore, we are waiting to collect all of the materials that we will need for the video footage before attempting to cut out various technological devices.
