This is a Wearable for swimmers that can detect when the swimmer have some kind of health attack or other trouble and sends a notification to a nearby lifeguard using our app.
The wearable
The device is capable of monitoring the vital constants (like heart rate or spO2), identify the movement patterns (to determine when the user is exercicing or is drowning) and if necessary sending an alert message with its GPS coordinates through the LoRa network plus a visual signal.
So this device is composed by those electronic modules:
- LoRa transceiver: It provides long range signaling with a small power consumption. Also the frequency is low enough to be "less affected" by the surrounding water.
- GPS: To send the GPS coordinates to the emergency services and the lifeguard.
- High power green led: this provides the visual alert and the color is matched with the lens. This way we can filter and improve the visual detection of the swimmer.
- IMU: to detect the movement patterns. This way we can differ between "exercise movements" or "drowning movements".
- AFE4404: This element is the Pulse sensor and spO2 sensor. It will provide with real time data about the vital constraints of the swimmer and detect when those are not "normal".
The lifeguard
When a swimmer with Smart SOS is in trouble the device sends a signal with the GPS coordinates to the Smart SOS app so the nearby lifeguard gets notified as well asother emergency services. Then combining the smartphone with a special lens the app helps the lifeguard to locate the user in the middle of the water. This way improving the response rate of the lifeguards.
To summarize the main features of Smart SOS:
1- Identifies when the swimmer needs help.
2- Alerts the Lifeguard (or other emergency services) using visual and radio signals.
3- Sends an app alert to the nearest Lifeguard to their smartphone.
4- Using the lens and the app the Lifeguard can visualize the source of the SOS signal and get indications of where the swimmer is.
