This is an Ethernet to RS-422/485 module developed with WIZnet’s new chip, the W55RP20.The W55RP20 is a chip that combines Raspberry Pi’s RP2040 with WIZnet’s W5500. It enables compact and powerful Serial to Ethernet communication. The firmware is fully open and can be uploaded and debugged via USB/SWD.
The serial port is configured as follows: it consists of a standard terminal block with pins set up for RS-485/RS-422.
One of the strengths of the RP2040 is that firmware can be uploaded in a drag-and-drop manner using a UF2 file via USB.
The DC-DC converter is a Torex product, operating in PWM/PFM modes and supporting up to 60V. A very robust and stable DC-DC converter was used.
On the top of the board, there are RST and BOOT switches. Additionally, there is a switch to enter AT command mode and another to select between RS-485 and RS-422.
On the bottom, there are LEDs for TCP communication, link status, and a power LED. There is also a FACT RST switch to reset the IP settings to default.
Additionally, a PoE module can be added to enable PoE-PD functionality.
No components are mounted on the back side.
The firmware is fully uploaded, and protocol settings can be easily configured using WIZnet’s WIZconfig Tool.
