I apologize in advance for the lack of pictures - I will try to update.
Introduction
So I did this hack for very obvious reasons - follow me on my bike!! What better place to put the controller than right on the handlebars so you can use the video from Solo as a realtime GTA style rear view mirror (That part is kind of trippy and awesome)!
This hack is actually super easy to and barely qualifies as a hack because it leverages a ton of great work already done by Quad-lock - but who said hacks needed to be complicated!
1. Get the Quad Lock System
Quad-lock is this great smartphone mounting system I discovered when I was looking to mount my iPhone to my bike (highly recommended). For this hack you need the Universal Lock and Bike Mount.
2. Mount the Universal Quad Lock on Controller
What makes them extra great is they sell their locking components with adhesive backs, so you can put a lock onto any flat surface - like the back of a Solo controller!
The Quad Lock kit comes with 3M adhesive, and I went with that to start, if it breaks I may figure out a way to screw it in. I didn't take a picture but I unscrewed the smartphone mount piece from the controller and clamped the 3M + Quad Lock in place for a few hours.
Install Quad Lock on Bike
On the bike side, just follow the instructions included with the Quad Lock Kit (I did this way before so no pics - sorry).
3. Secure Phone to Controller
Since I didn't feel to safe having the phone just hanging onto the controller, I took some rubber bands (I happen to have some Quirky bandits lying around) and used them to hold the phone to the Controller
Thats it! You now have a Solo Controller that can mount onto a bike and have Solo follow you around! Here's my test video with this controller setup!
Note: Be careful going up and down hills, currently Solo doesn't track elevation changes. Sometimes the elevation changes and you don't even notice it!
