The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona - which took place from February 26-29 - presented mobile technology innovations ready to reshape our daily lives: smartphones (which are increasingly surprising and valuable), and also accessories, tablets, apps, wearables, and... the electric supercar you don't expect!
From the top-of-the-line Xiaomi 14 Ultra cell phone to Motorola's wrist-rolled smartphone, here are the tech gems that shone the brightest at MWC.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra, the pinnacle of the union with LeicaLeica, what else? The collaboration between Xiaomi and the historic German brand icon of the optical industry, inextricably linked to masters of photography such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, continues.
From the Xiaomi 14 Series, the latest flagship-level smartphone series launched by the Chinese company in Barcelona, rises the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. It mounts Leica Summilux lenses, the pinnacle of optical concepts and design, in this collaboration undertaken in 2022.
Inspired by the aesthetics of traditional cameras, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra features a distinctive circular camera module with flat, linear shapes on the back.
It is composed of a high-strength aluminum frame, a layer of lightweight and sturdy nano-tech vegan skin, and Xiaomi Shield Glass. The screen, the innovative All Around Liquid Display, has an even curvature on all sides and corners, giving a curvy touch to the silhouette. The viewing experience is immersive thanks to the 6.73-inch Amoled C8 WQHD+ display, with WQHD+ (3200 x 1440) resolution and 3000-nit peak brightness.
In addition, this new smartphone features a professional four-camera setup, with focal lengths from 12 mm to 120 mm, the main one having a continuously variable aperture with ƒ/1.63-ƒ/4.0 focal ratio and continuous aperture exposure adjustments.

Xiaomi SU7: the super tech electric sedanAnd here it is, at last, the highly anticipated Xiaomi SU7. The Chinese automaker chose the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona for the international unveiling of its first electric car, which debuts in a Max version. Astonishingly, the SU7 Max is a full-size, high-performance eco-tech sedan, the result of the work of more than 3,400 engineers and 1,000 technical experts. A "mobile smart space," it presses the pedal on tech ecosystem integration.
With soft lines, Xiaomi's supercar has a 101 kW/h accumulator, a charging range of up to 800 km, and sprints from zero to 100 km in 2.78 seconds.
In addition to the design, Xiaomi developed the chassis, motor, and battery from scratch, making five main EV technologies per electric vehicle: E-Motor, CTB Integrated Battery, Xiaomi Die-Casting, Xiaomi Pilot Autonomous Driving, and Smart Cabin.
Motorola's smartphone rolled up on the wristAlso at the MWC, Motorola made everyone speechless with a smartphone that can be rolled up on the wrist, like a bracelet. Foldable, yes, but different from the foldable ones we are used to!
A revolutionary device, it is part cell phone, part smartwatch. Just as it dared last year by bringing the rollable cell phone to the show, Motorola relaunches the smartphone with a pOLED FHD+ adaptive display, which can be folded into different shapes, depending on one's needs. Here, then, one can go from a normal Android phone used in a flat position to a wrist-mounted experience, and more.
Samsung Galaxy Ring, the ring of the futureThe long-awaited Galaxy Ring, the ring of the future, was finally unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Fascinating and still partly shrouded in mystery, it could not fail to catch our attention. The promise? Samsung's greatest innovations in the smallest format, on the finger, for convenient 24-hour use!
A wearable device dedicated to health, it will offer new possibilities for improving daily well-being, providing information and tools for deeper self-knowledge, both day and night, thanks in part to Galaxy AI. How? That is yet to be discovered. It will probably be equipped with features to track sleep, and to detect vital parameters based on heart rate, movements during rest, respiratory indicators, etc.
With an attractive and minimalist design, like a real piece of jewelry with slim and elegant lines, it is expected to be launched in the second half of 2024. Made of titanium, a combination of lightness and strength, it looks like a band ring, and is currently available in three colors: gold, platinum silver, and ceramic black.
