At the moment, to train blind swimmers, an assistant is needed who, using a pole with a tip, gives a tactile signal to the swimmer. And the swimmer makes a U-turn on the track.
I want to develop a pool boundary detection system to automatically signal to a blind swimmer that the pool boundary has been reached.
How it works
The device will be placed on the edge of the pool. The device consists of a video camera and an image processing board using the OpenCV library. The device will be connected via Bluetooth to the swimmer's gadget, this is a wrist-type waterproof fitness bracelet with a vibration function.
A device with a video camera will identify the swimmer and analyze how far he is from the pool boundary and send a signal to the fitness bracelet, which in turn will make a U-turn. The device will also be able to determine the position of a blind swimmer on the track and help him align to the center by giving signals to the left or right.
