One day, my brother in law show me this video:
I took this inspirational video and started to try to replicate the Atari punk console +baby8 sequencer; nowadays I have obtained this gadget:
After some weeks "spending" time learning about it, I built my APK+baby8 sequencer version 1- I have two more version on design phase, including all the feedback people have given me about it and variations I want to try.
This is my first stage of my long term goal and I consider necessary previous to me before to jump to and arduino based synthesizer.
I was, a lot of the time, trying to make a complex packaging and presentation, then I change my mind and start to find an innovative box trying to be as simple as possible and as cheap as possible. Also, I received feedback from my friendes and familiy and decided to move from a baby10 steps to a baby8 steps.
This is a part of a lot tests, I did:
This gadget have a lot of challenges and some special effect for the developers, because you are going to be a lot of time scanning all the sounds this can generate- trying combinations- mixing in your stereo.
I take the challenge of design the PCBs and to study strategies to fabricate these. I thought that in a PCB the sound and the behavior of components are more stable and the sound repeatibilyty would improving. That is is absolutely true and nice to test.
This is my first one PCB:
If you want to replicate this project please use the schematics, not the component list. Be careful with the potentiometers specifications and better use 556 based APK.
