This is my submission for the Hackster.io Challenge "Give your Hardware a Home" and I wanted to make something that I would put on my table. Being a sci fi fan, I wanted something unique and I got the inspiration from the Radio in Portal 2.
The base has a cutout for the RPI cables and screw holes to attach to the top.
A little detail work and added button pegs to operate the Radio. The front panel is part of the base's top Cover.
The Button & Labels are 1mm extrusion which can be painted on later. Alternatively, it can be sliced into two and fabricated separately.
I left enough Room for expansion with additional shields later. Cutouts for the arduino Cables are also made.
In order to house Speakers, the back assembly has a drill and slot cut out to take the cables to the RPi.(matching slot is cut in the base) The two speakers can be glued to the grill from the back. Due to the small form factor, small speakers will fit comfortably.
The front of this arch assembly is made from translucent plastic and can house RGB LED strips/strings to be connected to the RPI. Think audio equilizer!
The final assembly is fit for a futuristic Workbench/ office/ living-room.
Thanks!
