How to: Elegoo Roboter Minicar Kit

With the youngest addition - the Minicar Kit - the Elegoo team once again achieved a great coup: in about an hour, I was able to successfully complete the setup and commissioning project with two 8-year-old boys. Through a consistently successful, illustrated instructions, custom-fit and preprogrammed components, the mating and the Bluetooth control via smartphone rounded off the immediate use. I was lucky enough to get the two boys to bed in time.

But in turn: what you get

As usual with Elegoo, the goods are well packaged and provided with a sigla to the customer. This ensures that all necessary components for the complete structure are included. Already a first good feeling.

step1 - control the package list

In the beginning, the components included in the package are listed and you can get an overview: preestablished woods for the chassis are also included, as well as pretty stickers, a LiPo battery in a housing and screwdriver and USB cable with preprogrammed controller board.

step2 - processing the instructions according to numbering

The few bags with the screws are numbered and so a confusion is excluded. Even the cable connectors can only be plugged together in one direction (similar to a JST plug). So errors in the assembly are excluded.

I would have only one recommendation: when screwing the battery case, I solved one of the two side walls again, so I could easily tighten the mini-screws with the screwdriver. With the help of an adult there is hardly any room. Likewise, I have paid attention to correct cable management as well as to the pushing together of the vorgestanten chassis parts in the Z-groove. That gave the whole thing a little more stability.

What the connection PINs are good for will not be explained further. I hope that the Elegoo support has an answer to that - certainly extensions will be offered.

The first test took place on the map: the patrol-line mode is active immediately after switching on.

After that, the kids got acquainted with the free smartphone app and tried out the maneuverability with the Car Robot.

Outlook

if you need something more sophisticated for a whole evening, you can use the Smart Robot Car Kit v3.0, which can also be controlled via smartphone.

The children would not have been able to work independently without help - the well-illustrated manual - here, a manual that had been translated according to the language of the country would have been the better choice.
