In smart factories, mainly manufacturing and packaging industries for products in the Food and Beverage or Pharmaceutical & Medical side, maintaining proper spacing between products on a conveyor belt is crucial for efficiency and quality control. Additionally, those temperature-sensitive products must be handled within specific temperature ranges to prevent spoilage or damage. This project aims to develop a monitoring system that ensures products are evenly spaced on the conveyor belt and kept within the optimal temperature range, reducing product defects and operational inefficiencies.
Objectives:- To ensure proper spacing between products on a conveyor belt for smooth processing and packaging.
- To monitor the temperature of the conveyor belt environment to maintain product quality.
- To provide real-time alerts and automatically stop the conveyor belt when spacing or temperature conditions are not met.
- To improve efficiency and reduce wastage in manufacturing and packaging processes.
- Uneven product spacing can lead to jams, misalignment, and packaging errors.
- Overheating or excessive cooling can compromise the integrity of certain products (e.g., food, pharmaceuticals, or heat-sensitive materials).
- Time-of-flight (ToF) sensors can be used to detect product distance accurately.
- ENV III Temperature sensor can detect whether the conveyor belt environment is within the acceptable range.
- Monitoring system is needed in such industries so that they won't lose profits over spoiled products or inefficient processing.
- Spacing Checker – A ToF sensor will detect the products on the conveyor belt ensuring that they are equally spaced apart. If the spacing is incorrect, an alert is triggered, and the conveyor belt stops for workers to readjust products.
- Temperature Monitor – An ENV III Temperature sensor will continuously monitor the conveyor belt environment. If the temperature is unoptimal for the products which could lead to them spoiling, a signal will be sent, and the conveyor will stop.
- Alert & Control System – If either the spacing or temperature conditions are not met, an LED indicator and a buzzer will activate, and the conveyor belt will be stopped automatically until conditions are corrected.
- Dashboard Monitoring – A real-time dashboard will display the temperature data, allowing operators to monitor the system and take necessary actions.
This system enhances quality control, reduces product wastage, and ensures smooth operations in industries that rely on conveyor belt automation.
