Coastal Dangers

When we moved to the Coast of Texas we looked forward to days of just lounging on the beach and the year round beach access. But since that time we have not only experienced everything we expected, but there have been a few surprises along the way. The are we live in has many bayous and tributaries and refineries...lots of refineries and chemical plants. The recent flooding from tropical storm Harvey overwhelmed the bayous and caused major flooding throughout south Texas. Along with the concerns from the water were there were several incidents at the refineries and plants caused by the weather event. My idea would be to use the float switch attached to any structure to monitor flooding and the gas sensor to monitor the air for sings of chemical releases.
