Welcome to our new series - Spinel Crux - Gesture Controlled Robot for Wireless Surveillance. In this series, we will build a robot which can travel through rough terrain and can be controlled using hand gestures. To control the robot, we will be using gloves that will have an accelerometer and a flex sensor to control the status and the direction it should move. The flex sensor activates the robot and the tilt of the accelerator dictates the direction it should move.Below is a teaser video of Spinel Crux.
Gesture Controlled Robot for Wireless Surveillance TeaserJust to get a taste, watch the demo video of our Spinel Crux Gesture Controlled Robot.
In this video series, we will explain everything about this gesture controlled robot, controlling it with the hand gesture and will show you how to make one yourself. We will provide you with the design, code of the gesture controlled robot and links to all the products used in this project.
Design your own PCBs for your Project!I used Altium designer to draw the circuit and design the PCB. It is a powerful tool that can be used to design and create our own PCBs for our project as well as complex and multi-layer PCBs for industrial use.
If you are a DIY Electronic enthusiast, I bet this is gonna be really useful for you guys. I have been using it for the past 3-4 years and let me tell you guys, this is amazing! You can download the Free Trial of Altium PCB Designer from here.

We use Raspberry Pi and Arduino to create our gesture controlled robot. Arduino helps control the glove, which will detect the hand gestures and send the data to the Robot via WiFi.We use a Raspberry Pi to make the robot, which will receive the data sent from the Arduino, process the information, and control the bot.Tutorial on building the gesture controlled robot will be uploaded to our YouTube channel as well as our website, so make sure you SUBSCRIBE to this channel by clicking this subscribe button below for future videos.
Getting StartedWe will now head over to the tutorial section and will start building it. For your convenience, I will be dividing this post into two parts. In the first part, I will show you how to make the controlling glove and in the second part, I will show you how to build the robot. For complete tutorial and codes, visit:
