Problem

The COVID-19 pandemic has a wider impact on the globe with the most affecting hardly in low-income countries. In Africa, its impact has cause deaths, economic emergencies, hunger, and a lot of other untold damages. COVID 19 pandemic has been circulating the global with false information that exposed some communities to be in danger, for example, some false information includes;- that is can't survive in hot temperatures, black people are immune to it and so many other minds blogging beliefs. This has exposed our people to this effect. As a matter of fact, COVID 19 war in Africa is just starting with numbers raising day by day however access to information is limited such people who have the worst health care systems with even no health insurance. Its time to make COVID 19 information known in each and every corner of our societies before its too late. I personally happen to be coming from Kyotera district which happens to be a border district neighboured by the Rakai district. In Uganda basically the border districts are at a higher risk of suffering the diverse effects per the precautions taken by the state towards combating the spread of the virus. Apparently lifts on the several measures taken towards curbing the spread of the virus have taken place in districts distant from the borders leaving the boarder districts at great negative experiences from the several standard Operative procedures undertaken by the state agencies. Such measures include curfew at 7:00 pm to 6:30 am, burning of public transport and more, etc. The measure reason for my participation is the love for humanity and respect for the health workers and respective personnel risking their lives at the borders trying to test people of which of the 507 cases in Uganda so far 80% are expected to be coming from border districts. Healthcare workers to my dismay are at risk and yet the state has not done enough towards safeguarding their lives

Solution

InfoCov provides emergency COVID19 information to users through android, WhatsApp, calls, and SMS services, It's free confidential and anonymous. Medical experts are available 24/7 to assist the user with accurate information and connect those with symptoms to the recommended health centers. In this, we hope to put up a call center, an online web-based platform, and text messages to our frontline workers. A person will be able to contact us at a given toll-free number for any COVID 19 information and assistance, our experts will be able to give them the relevant information as per WHO recommendations. Those with the signs and symptoms of the virus will be referred to known health units for assistance. As a matter of fact, the many health workers/essential workers at least own a smartphone, we shall be to reach out to the selected audience, for example, the village health team leaders through spreading plus other different social media platforms about relevant information to those specific persons for example on Whatsapp, Facebook, and Twitter. The SMS will be sent to our target beneficiaries while providing accurate information about COVID 19.
