I need to replace several ceiling mounted light fixtures in my very old home. The existing light fixtures all have pull string switches on the fixtures. I want to use wall switches near the room entrances to avoid having to navigate to the center of the dark room to turn on the light. My plan is to use a Sonoff WiFi relay module in the ceiling and surface mount a regular wall light switch connected to an ESP8266 module to send the WiFi signal to the Sonoff module. I will use a Raspberry Pi home IoT server running the mosquitto MQTT server to act as the middle man. This will allow me to also control the lights from a cell phone or a home automation server.
