I've wanted my own set of Bass Midi Pedals after seeing a bass player in a band augmenting his bass lines using a MOOG taurus a few years ago, Then one day I saw an old organ discarded on the side of the street and realised I could probably make my own from this old unwanted instrument,
I took it home and stripped it for parts to be used in future projects. After examining the pedals and their switching mechanism I realised it would be a really simple job as they were just momentary switches, all I needed to do was connect it to an Arduino and use the code I'd previously used in my bass guitar project with a little modification.
EDIT*
I initially wired the switches to an Arduino nano and a 5 pin midi din cable which worked well, I've now changed these to a different Arduino board (pro micro), It can now be used as a midi usb device. It can plug straight into my ipad, phone and computer and no longer needs an external power source.
the enclosure was made from plywood with some internal bracing, then finished with a blue "tolex", the side panels are made from olive and still need some final shaping and finishing, they stabilise the unit and lift the mechanisms off the ground.
