We made an automated appliance you'd actually be proud to keep displayed, own and use.
With very simple manufacturing techniques, we've started a robotic bar-kit from http://sirmixabot.com that you can buy today and actually make drinks.
We noticed that other ambitious bar projects (SomaBar, barbotics, etc.) were high priced, and failed to come to market. We proposed there must be a means to make a simple, replicable and beautiful device that people can actually buy today and use for not too much money.
Although the total parts costs and efforts for a singular buyer might amount to $400 when all is said and done, a completely pre-packaged kit comes to $349 and is available today.
What You Get:In the Mix-A-Bot kit we've bundled:
- A complete laser cut birch frame (6 pieces, held together by M5 x 20mm bolts)
- All associated Linear Motion materials (SBR12 railing, 8mm linear railings, 8mm bearings, pulleys, NEMA stepper motors, limit switches, lead-screws, and linear bearings)
- All electronics including Arduino Mega, ESP8266 WiFi chips, LCD screen, hall sensors, IR sensors, magnets, wires, cable holder, resistors, and power supply.
- All custom 3D prints and metal cuts (linear rail base, linear rail mounts, etc.)
Everything! We think the kit can only be made better by sharing, so we've included absolutely everything one needs to make and code it yourself. If you'd prefer to buy the parts on your own or through us, we're indifferent, we just wanted to create a robotic bar experience that you could get today that doesn't appear home-made, cheap, chintzy, or half-hearted.
Little Things Make the Difference:We went through lots of testing to ensure that lots of small changes can make a difference. The kit has bi-directional limit switches to always sense where it is, hall effect sensors to detect exactly when its beneath a bottle, an IR sensor to detect cup presence, and even the linear motion has been smoothed out to create a deliberate acceleration from start.
What You Can Do:The Mix-A-Bot kit can hold up to 10 drinks and is operable from WiFi. Order from a preset menu or "surprise" me to discover cocktails and recipes.
