Makeblock has returned to Kickstarter, this time with a programmable, transformable drone. Unlike others on the market today, with Airblock, you start with individual magnetic pieces and have your own aerial device 15 seconds later.
The easy-to-assemble kit has two primary modes: a hexacopter and hovercraft, but its modularity allows you to create several other robotic gadgets.
Not only fun to fly, but educational as well — kids (and kids at heart) can explore the world of coding with Makeblock’s accompanying app. Simply drag-and-drop different blocks on your screen and connect them together to form a seamless command.
Those who’d rather not program their Airblock can always use the app’s joysticks controls. Basic functions include rise and fall, advance and retreat, and side to side flight. With visual programming integrated into the app, users can also perform advanced features like hover, somersault and other customizable stunts.
Designed with children and parents in mind, the drone is rebuildable and crash-friendly, so you don’t need to worry about damaging any of your home’s decor. Airblock is made of soft yet durable styrofoam, while its fans/blades remain protected making it safe for everyone.
Sound like the drone for you? Soar on over to Makeblock’s Kickstarter campaign, which is already off to a fantastic start.
