After starting a NAS (network attached storage) build using old hard drives and a Raspberry Pi, hacker “MrWunderbar” noted all the wires scattered randomly, and decided to make a nice case for it. This would have been simple enough, but as with many projects, the scope started to expand and he chose to add elements that would be both decorative and functional.
After considering his options, he settled on a pair of VU meters in order to monitor his Pi and network statistics. Information on the build can be found in this write-up, and code for four different methods of displaying stats on the meters are available on GitHub.
Finally, he used the video intro seen here to figure out the basics of using these meters, so be sure to check it out if you’d like to take on a project like this!
