Build Your Own North Pi!
Did you see the Fractal Design Baby North case and want one? Well, now you can download the original design files and 3D print your own.
If you haven't heard of Fractal Design, then you are probably not someone that builds their own gaming PC. They make beautiful cases, and perhaps the best known of these is the Fractal North.
During Computex last month, Fractal showed off a concept case for the Raspberry Pi, dubbed the "Baby North" or the "North Pi." Built just for the show the case was intended to house the Raspberry Pi boards they were using to play music, promoting their new Scape headset.
First reported on by Gamer's Nexus it was never intended for sale. However, the case was met by cries for Fractal to start selling it, "…take my money!" was the phrase most used on social media.
Inevitably the community looked at the case, and decided to build their own.
Some of the community's cases were imitations of the original design, while others went above and beyond Fractal's prototype. They were interpretations, rather than direct copies.
But as of yesterday, the official design files for the North Pi designed by Fractal for Computex are now available on an under-the-radar page of the company's website. The STL files are also accompanied by a very comprehensive set of instructions to create your own North Pi case.
So if you saw it, and wanted a Baby North, you can now print your own!
