Although attempting to crack an actual safe could land you in some trouble, Michael Klements' latest build presents a fun alternative that will keep you out of harm's way. That's because he has crafted a laser-cut puzzle box lets you try your hand at figuring out a random four-digit number, releasing a servo lock to find out what is inside.

To play this game, you first shut the safe's door, which locks with the press of the rotary dial on the front. This dial is then used to input each of the four combination digits, confirmed by pressing the dial for each number, shown on a small I2C OLED display.

When a digit is correct and in the right position, it's indicated by red and green LEDs, respectively. The process is repeated over and over, eventually allowing you to guess the code with the LED feedback. This releases the lock to give you access to whatever item is stored inside, and the display reveals just how many tries it took you to get it open. While not the best way to secure actual valuables, it looks rather entertaining.

Klements' device is controlled with an Arduino Uno and constructed out of 3mm MDF. A rechargeable battery is used for power, providing self-contained security puzzling fun!
