3D printing has come a long way in the past couple of decades, and there are now many 3D printer models on the market that are affordable and surprisingly good. The sub $500 range is probably the most competitive segment of the market, and Creality has been one of the best options in that segment for years now. The Creality Ender 3 and CR-10 are two of the most recommended models for people looking for an entry-level 3D printer. Now Creality is launching another 3D printer in that segment, called the Creality CR-6 SE, through Kickstarter.

The Creality CR-6 SE Kickstarter campaign just went live today, but it has already raised nearly a million dollars — 10 times the funding goal. We rarely see Kickstarter campaigns get funded so heavily in such a short amount of time. It’s easy to see why that’s the case here: not only is the Creality CR-6 SE very affordable, it also packs in a ton of features not often seen in this segment. The Kickstarter early bird price is just $320, which is near the bottom of the price range for FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) 3D printers. That price puts it squarely between the Ender 3 and CR-10. If print size isn’t a major factor for you, the CR-6 SE might even be a better choice than the more expensive CR-10.

The CR-6 SE can print objects up to 235 x 235 x 250 mm (9.25 x 9.25 x 9.84 inches), and can print at speeds up to 100 mm/s. It has a heated bed and a nozzle that can reach temperatures up to 260 C, so it’s suitable for most common filament materials. The frame is constructed from sturdy materials which will keep it rigid during printing to help ensure quality. Users can control the printer with a large 4.3-inch color touchscreen LCD. It has power failure protection, and can pick up where it left off in the event of power failure. High-end Trinamic stepper motor drivers ensure quiet operation. Most importantly for you sanity, the CR-SE offers “Leveling-Free Technology” so you won’t have to go through the hassle of leveling your print bed.

If you want the new Creality CR-6 SE, the Kickstarter campaign will be running until June 5th. Backer rewards are expected to be delivered in August.
