Ditch Your AirPods and Listen to Your Music Through These Audio Earrings

Unlike Apple AirPods, the new NOVA H1 Audio Earrings can be worn all day long, just like any other earrings.

Apple released their wireless AirPods after making the infuriating decision to omit the headphone jack from new iPhone models. Despite their ridiculous choice to make wireless headphones a necessity, AirPods quickly became very popular. That was partially due to the fact that AirPods are quite expensive and therefore became status symbols, and partially because a lot of tasty technology is packed into those tiny earbuds. But even if you consider AirPods fashionable, it is unlikely that you want to wear them throughout your day. That’s why the new NOVA H1 Audio Earrings can be worn all day long, just like any other earrings.

NOVA Products is a new company and have just launched their flagship NOVA H1 Audio Earrings through Kickstarter. That campaign will still be running for another month, but it has already exceeded its $50,557 funding goal with $86,247 raised so far. These novel headphones are the obvious response to the question “how can we make headphones that people can wear inconspicuously all day long?” They look almost indistinguishable from an understated pair of pearl earrings, so they’re as appropriate in the workplace as they are at a cocktail hour. A special audio driver is integrated into each earring, which pumps your music through your earlobe into your ear canal. The earrings connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth 5, so they are compatible with all modern devices.

Not to worry if your ears aren’t pierced, because the NOVA H1 Audio Earrings are available in both clip-on and stud versions. Through the Kickstarter campaign, you can choose either silver-plated or gold-plated earrings, both of which have a real white pearl. The batteries in the earrings will last all day in standby mode and will provide about three hours of actual listening. If the batteries run out, you can recharge them in a battery case similar to the one used with Apple AirPods. That charging case can itself be recharged wirelessly with a QI charger. A built-in microphone means you can use the NOVA H1 Audio Earrings to make phone calls in addition to listening to music. The pearls act as buttons, too, so you can adjust volume or end a call. While these certainly can be worn by men, they are quite obviously designed to suit women’s fashion. We can only hope a more masculine option will be made available in the future.

If the NOVA H1 Audio Earrings do suit your style, the Kickstarter campaign will be running until March 18th. Super Early Birds can get a pair in silver for €295 (about $356). You’ll need to throw in an additional €50 for the gold earrings. Rewards are expected to be delivered in September of this year.
