Evolux Is Bringing Back Light-Up Sneakers

For those of us of a certain age, light-up sneakers were basically the coolest footwear in history. Of course, like any other fashion trend, it didn’t take long for the luminous shoes to be relegated to the bargain shelves at Kmart, and then to the nostalgia sector of our memories. Fortunately fashion trends are cyclical, and Evolux is bringing back light-up sneakers through the E-SNEAKERS Kickstarter campaign.
The Evolux E-SNEAKERS campaign just recently launched on Kickstarter, but it’s already apparent that the campaign will reach its funding goal easily. Unlike the light-up shoes that you had in the early ‘90s, the Evolux E-SNEAKERS are “smart.” Instead of simply illuminating some LEDs, the E-SNEAKERS have a matrix of LEDs that can be used to display text, graphics, patterns, and even a music equalizer. All of that can be configured and customized via a simple smartphone app. You can adjust the brightness, pair the shoes to your phone to display incoming calls, and more. The 800mAh battery is good for more than 8 hours of continuous use between charges, and charging takes 4-5 hours.
Tech features aside, Evolux claims that the E-SNEAKERS are high-quality kicks in their own right. They are lightweight, flexible, and breathable. They have odor control and supportive insoles. Even when the display is turned off, they look fashionable. Right now, there are two LED color options available: “magma red” and “wild white.” All of the electronic compartments are safely sealed inside of a waterproof enclosure, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally damaging them.
