Time to step up that Halloween costume project…

CD Projekt Red’s announcement of their upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 stunned audiences with its immersive and highly detailed gameplay set in a futuristic world. The protagonist is a character named V — a cyber-enhanced street warrior who takes on quests throughout Night City, a megacity in the Free State of California. As you might imagine, cosplay artists have been designing costumes based on the characters in the game, including New Game+ editor-in-chief Alzbeta Troganova, who managed to copy V’s Samurai jacket in fantastic detail.

Troganova designed the Samurai jacket using a pair of identical bomber jackets, using one as the inner fabric that houses the electronics and the other as an outer shell that display’s the magic. The exterior was laser-cut to fit the Samurai logo that lights up using a series of LEDs. To match the collar shown in the Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay, Troganova had to 3D print an insert, which was wrapped duct tapped and covered in fabric to give it a puffy appearance. She also added some tinfoil to reflect the LEDs housed inside, giving it a more dramatic look.

Rounding out the jacket design are some stenciled logos and a printed patch, along with some weathering to make it look authentic. Troganova states that the Samurai jacket was an incredibly challenging design that required a lot of stitching and do-overs, but in the end, it turned out to be a one of a kind cosplay piece.
