Hamster Mix Is a Portable Bluetooth MIDI Controller Designed Around an ESP32
The hamster-sized, 12-keyed device allows you to control effects and play MIDI notes within five octaves.
Skeba Digital Corp is set to launch a portable MIDI controller for those looking to create music on the go: Hamster Mix. The board — which is roughly the size of a hamster — is designed around an ESP32 module and features 12 buttons that function as piano keys, ranging through five octaves. Another pair of buttons allow users to switch up and down through those octaves, while potentiometers provide customization of those sounds.
The Hamster Mix connects to mobile devices and PCs via Bluetooth and can take advantage of many music apps, including Ableton, Garage Band, Reaper and more. The controller is powered by a 300 mAh LiPo battery, enabling over 10 hours of music before needing a recharge.
It’s currently unknown when the Hamster Mix will launch on Crowd Supply. Still, the company has shared links to all of the open source materials needed for those who would like to build the controller instead of purchasing the unit.
