Infineon's Imagimob Launches Free, Open Source DEEPCRAFT Starter Models for Edge AI Developers

Looking for a leg-up, but don't want a "Ready Model?" 12 starter models are now available in DEEPCRAFT Studio.

Infineon-owned Imagimob, specialist in edge artificial intelligence (edge AI) technologies, has announced an expansion to the DEEPCRAFT program it launched last year: DEEPCRAFT Starter Models, aiming to deliver free and open source quick-start platforms for a range of use cases.

"We're excited to be able to offer machine learning developers an easier path to taking edge AI models into production," says Imagimob chief executive officer Anders Hardebring of today's model releases. "With DEEPCRAFT Starter Models easily accessible in DEEPCRAFT Studio, there's no barrier to entry."

DEEPCRAFT launched back in November last year, following Infineon's acquisition of Swedish edge AI specialist Imagimob in May 2023. Initially, it was a simple rebranding: what was formerly known as Imagimob Studio and its Imagimob Ready Models became DEEPCRAFT Studio and the DEEPCRAFT Ready Models. Over time, the companies claimed, this would evolve into a deeper offering β€” and the launch of the new DEEPCRAFT Starter Models is the first step along that path.

Unlike the DEEPCRAFT Ready Models, Imagimob's Starter Models aren't ready to deploy out-of-the-box. Instead, they represent a leg-up for those looking to develop their own edge AI devices β€” and they're made available under a free, open source license covering training datasets, pre-processing data, the model architecture, and the instructions surrounding their use.

This first release covers 12 Starter Models: baby cry, gunshot, chainsaw, drill material, siren, and keyword detection for microphone sensors, plus a "home sounds" model with multiple label support that arrives detecting coughs, baby cries, and a running faucet; fall, human activity, drill material, and fan anomaly detection for inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors; and a touch detection model for Infineon CAPSENSE capacitive touch sensors.

More information on the DEEPCRAFT Starter Models is available on the Imagimob website, along with instructions on accessing them through DEEPCRAFT Studio. Those looking to experiment with DEEPCRAFT Studio, meanwhile, should check out our Getting Edgy with Machine Learning contest β€” with submissions open until May 22, 2025.
