Ivan Miranda Has Finished His 3D-Printed Electric Tank Skateboard
The YouTuber has spent the past several months working on a 3D-printed electric tank skateboard, and he has finally completed the project.
UPDATE (12/3/2010): Ivan Miranda has showed off his 3D-printed all-terrain skateboard in the wild and provides more details about its construction. This new video is a much-watch if you've been following the project!
Rideable electric vehicles are already quite popular. You’ve probably seen people zipping around your town on electric skateboards, scooters, or even those crazy single-wheeled contraptions. Those are great if you want to look like a San Francisco tech bro, and they can even be an economical form of transportation. But they aren’t exactly “coo.” Ivan Miranda has spent the past several months working on a 3D-printed electric tank skateboard that is definitely cool, and he has finally finished the project.
We covered Miranda's tank skateboard four months ago when he posted his first video about it. In that video, he demonstrated how he was 3D printing all of the parts to make a miniature tank track powered by a brushless electric motor. In his new video, he shows the complete build and how he put two of those tank tracks together in line with a platform to stand on. With the exception of a few parts that are made from steel, like the platform rails, everything is 3D-printed. That platform tilts on skateboard trucks to make it possible to steer. A simple handheld RC controller acts as the throttle control. As you can see in the video, the crazy tank skateboard is definitely rideable and looks way cooler than a Bird scooter.
