Meet the Winners of Infineon's Propel HMI into the Future Challenge
We are excited to announce the winners of our “Propel Human-Machine Interactions into the Future Design Challenge, sponsored by Infineon.
We are excited to announce the winners of our Propel Human-Machine Interactions Into the Future Design Challenge, sponsored by Infineon. During the five-month contest, over 375 community members from 65 different countries registered for the event to experience and innovate with Infineon’s CAPSENSE™ technology.
Infineon awarded 100 PSoC 4100S Pioneer Kit OR CY8CKIT-148 Inductive Sensing Evaluation Kits to the participants for project builds, and a panel of five judges from Infineon’s product, technical marketing, and engineering teams evaluated the entries on their originality, creativity, technical merit, and commercial value.
"We were blown away by the exceptional creativity of our participants who brought forth a diverse range of innovations - from cutting-edge smart appliances and musical instruments to advanced workplace safety applications," said Vibheesh Bharathan, Senior Manager, PSoC 4 & CAPSENSE Product Marketing. "This challenge truly exemplifies the limitless potential of our CAPSENSE technology and reinforces our commitment to revolutionizing the touch HMI on modern products."
And without further ado, the winning entries are as follows:
1st Place
Everyday Work Safety by Mario Soranno
Soranno designed a safety system for remote controls that immediately turns off the vehicle when the operator puts down the remote control.
“For a few years now, I have seen radio controls being used both correctly and incorrectly. I wanted to find a solution to limit improper use and improve their level of safety with an extremely simple operating mode: Normal/Danger -> ON/OFF. By studying CAPSENSE technology, I immediately realized that it could be used to improve safety by implementing the simple operation I had in mind.
Then, in the development of the project, I realized how straightforward it is for a developer to learn the features and functionality of this technology, and I was truly impressed: clear and comprehensive documentation on both the hardware and software side, with many evaluation boards available to quickly test one's ideas.
Finally, this contest gave me the opportunity to deepen and put into practice the CAPSENSE technology, both on the software and hardware sides, and to imagine new applications and solutions for other problems.”
2nd Place
Smart Home Solution by Dhrumil Makadia
Makadia’s project leveraged the feature from PSoC 4100S Pioneer Kit to elevate the home automation experience with smart touch. Combined with Alexa, Google, IR remote, and smartphone, the all-in-one control device aims to bring a holistic smart home interface for users.
“I had the pleasure of creating a project in Hackster.io with Infineon on PSoC Smart Home solution, and it was an incredible experience. The platform provided an excellent environment for me to develop my skills and bring my vision to life.”
3rd Place
Capacitive Pattern Based Input Lock by Mateusz Pająk
Pająk created a capacitive input lock using PSoC 4100S combined with machine learning. The lock employs a pattern-based system, where the user inputs a specific pattern on the touch sensor to unlock the device.
“I had a lot of fun while playing with Infineon's capacitive dev kit. I've never considered myself a UI/UX person and I've preferred to tinker with more "invisible" algorithms such as automatic control or robotics. This contest have opened a new door in scope of my interests in embedded development 🤓”
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who entered and supported the contest. Your enthusiasm and creativity were inspiring, and we hope you will continue to participate in our future events. We are grateful for your engagement and look forward to bringing you more exciting events and content in the future.
