MYIR's Latest System-on-Module Taps the AMD Artix-7 FPGA
Aimed at industrial projects, this FPGA SOM brings out an impressive 178 IO pins.
Shenzhen-based MYIR (Make Your Idea Real) has announced the launch of a new system-on-module, dubbed the MYC-J7A100T, powered by an AMD Artix-7 field-programmable gate array (FPGA) β and a matching carrier board to break out its features.
"[This] innovative module, equipped with the [AMD Artix-7] XC7A100T-2FGG484I chip, 512MB DDR3 memory, 32MB QSPI flash, 32KB EEPROM, DC-DC power management, and other integral circuits, measures a compact 69.6Γ40mm [around 2.74Γ1.57"]," MYIR writes of its latest system-on-module design. "Its 260-pin expansion interface, using an MXM gold-finger-edge-card interface, offers numerous connectivity options."
The Artix-7 at the heart of the module offers 100k logic cells, 4,860kb of total block ram, 240 digital signal processor (DSP) slices, eight GPT transceivers offering a throughput up to 6.6Gb/s, and a four-lane PCI Express Gen. 2 interface. There's 512MB of DDR3 memory on board, along with 32MB of flash storage and a 32kB electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM).
Of the FPGA's various inputs and outputs, 178 pins are brought out on the module's edge connector β 80 of which run at a 3.3V level with 98 configurable between 1.2/1.35/1.8/2.5/3.3V logic levels. The GPT transceivers are brought out as four pairs, and there's a JTAG interface for debugging.
For those looking to get started quickly, MYIR has designed a companion carrier board in a PCI Express add-in board format. This accepts a single MYC-J7A100T module and breaks out two gigabit Ethernet ports, two SFP+ interfaces, a PCI Express Gen. 2 interface, one each of HDMI input and output, a DVP camera interface, and a microSD Card slot for storage; an input/output expansion header provides access to additional IO.
The MYC-J7A100T is now available to order on the MYIR website at $125 before volume discounts; the carrier board is available for $169, including a MYC-J7A100T module, power supply, and a USB cable.
