The 3D printing experience just keeps getting better and better. When I first started 3D printing while working on an engineering team about 13 years ago, even our wildly expensive industrial printer was temperamental and difficult to use. Today, most midrange consumer 3D printers blow that out of the water from both a performance and user standpoint. A big part of that comes down to streamlining printer management, so users don't need to sit next to their machines all day. OctoEverywhere is a system that integrates with OctoPrint or Klipper to further improve the experience.

OctoEverywhere does a lot of things, but it is primarily a remote interface for your 3D printer. Both OctoPrint and Klipper provide web interfaces available through browsers of devices on the same local network, but OctoEverywhere lets you manage your printer from anywhere you have internet access. It is completely free and that includes both iOS and Android apps. With OctoEverywhere, you can manage your home 3D printer from work—or vice-versa. The app will let you view a webcam stream, load a print, adjust settings, and even receive status notifications.

But there is one killer feature that is especially interesting: Gadget. This is an AI system that uses sophisticated machine learning to monitor your printer and video feed to look for anomalies that might indicate a failed print or impending failure. In the former case, it lets you start the job over with a minimum of wasted time and filament. In the latter case, you might be able to fix the issue in time to save your print.

You can, of course, set up remote internet access for both OctoPrint and Klipper on your own without this service. But it is difficult to do so in a secure way that doesn't leave your printer (and potentially even your entire local network) vulnerable to attack. OctoEverywhere uses secure end-to-end encryption, so you're never exposed to the baddies.

If you want to give OctoEverywhere a try, you can create an account and get started now for free. The service is entirely free to use, but there is also a supporter level that includes some additional perks (like third-party apps) if you want to help the OctoEverywhere team keep the service up and running.
