Several years ago, Scott Pastor created the PiStation emulation console based on the first generation Raspberry Pi. Fast forward to today and Instructables user Farizno has come up with the PiStation 2, a mod that converts a PlayStation 2 console into a Pi 4-powered gaming system as well as a Linux computer via the Raspberry Pi Desktop.

"Additional features that really round the project out include full integration and functionality of the PlayStation's front panel power and eject buttons as well as the LEDs on the buttons, PWM-controlled PS2 fan speed based on CPU temperature, and RGB LED lighting to add some visual flair," Farizno explains.

Farizno installed RetroPie along with Kodi on top of the Raspberry Pi OS, enabling the PiStation 2 to operate as both a gaming console and a PC. What's more strip of RGB LEDs enhance the aesthetics, which are visible through the front vent on the PS2

Once built, you can also connect a PS4 gamepad over Bluetooth or use a USB controller to play games in EmulationStation. Interestingly, you can even attach a mouse and keyboard to have it function as a desktop.

More details on the PiStation 2 are available on Instructables, while other comments can be found on Reddit.
