Synaptics Gathers Its IoT Smarts Under the Veros Umbrella, Launches New SYN4383 and SYN43756E

A shiny new brand is joined by two shiny new products, including a "Triple Combo 3" part with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and IEEE 802.15.4.

Synaptics has announced it is bringing its Internet of Things (IoT) and edge artificial intelligence (edge AI) wireless connectivity product lines under a new umbrella, dubbed Veros — and has unveiled two new high-performance system-on-chip parts to go with them.

"The introduction of Veros marks a pivotal moment for Synaptics as we accelerate our 'Sense, Process, Connect' and first-to-market innovation strategy for high-performance and broad-market IoT connectivity," claims Synaptics' Venkat Kodavati. "By tightly coupling our renowned wireless expertise with scalable AI processing, we allow customers to fully realize the promise of each to enhance the user experience. Our newest wireless SoCs allow customers to more quickly and effectively deliver on that promise."

Those new systems-on-chips are the SYN4383 and SYN43756E, the former offering triple-band 2×2 802.11ax Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4 with Bluetooth 6 compatibility, and IEEE 802.15.4 connectivity with the latter dropping the 802.15.4 radio altogether and reducing the Bluetooth version to 5.3 while retaining the triple-band 2×2 Wi-Fi — but without the real Simultaneous Dual Band (RSDB) support of its more feature-packed stablemate.

Both parts, and the rest of the newly-named Veros range, feature support for Synaptics' Astra platform, the company's "AI-native" compute platform designed for the IoT and edge AI — something Synaptics claims will deliver context-aware devices for everything from consumer products to automotive and industrial applications.

More information on the SYN4383 and SYN43756E are available on their respective product pages; Synaptics has not publicly disclosed pricing.
